Hakley Roberts Valve: What It Is and How To Use It
When it comes to water sports, performance, reliability, and safety aren’t just preferences, they’re essentials, and your equipment plays a critical role in your water sports experience.
One small but necessary component that often goes unnoticed is the valve system that keeps inflatable gear functioning properly. That’s where the Hakley Roberts valve stands out. This valve is used for high-pressure water sports inflatables such as water trampolines, bouncers, inflatable water mats, and inflatable stand up paddle boards. Known for its durability and precision engineering, it ensures secure air retention and easy inflation / deflation which are crucial in water sports environments.
The Halkey Roberts valve is a two-position air valve:
- Closed (up position): Holds air in (one-way inflation)
- Open (down position): Lets air flow freely (for deflation)
At the center is a spring-loaded pin you can press and twist.
How to Inflate
- Remove the cap
- Check the pin position and ensure the center pin is up (closed position).
- If it’s down: press and twist it slightly until it pops up.
- Attach your pump nozzle. If you are using a RAVE Sports High Speed Inflator / Deflator or a RAVE Sports Dual Stage Rapid Pump, a Halkey Roberts valve adaptor is included. Twist to secure tightly.
- Inflate to the recommended pressure (PSI) for your gear.
- Remove pump quickly. Note: air won’t escape if the pin is in the up position.
- Replace the cap. This adds an extra seal and keeps debris out.
How to Deflate
- Remove the cap.
- Press and turn the pin by pushing the center pin down and twisting it slightly to lock it in the down position.
- Let air escape. Note: air will rush out quickly.
Water sports demand gear that can withstand pressure, movement, and changing environmental conditions. The Halkey Roberts valve matters for multiple reasons and is essential for:
1. Reliable Air Retention: Inflatable gear must maintain consistent air pressure to perform well. A slow leak can compromise buoyancy, stability, and safety. Hakley Roberts valves are designed with tight seals that minimize air loss for high-pressure large inflatables such as water bouncers and trampolines.
2. Quick Inflation and Deflation: Time matters, especially when setting up gear or packing it away after the summer months. These valves are engineered for efficient airflow, allowing users to inflate equipment quickly and deflate it just as easily when it’s time to move on.
3. Durability in Harsh Conditions: From saltwater exposure to UV rays and temperature changes, water sports gear takes a beating. Halkey Roberts valves are built to resist corrosion and wear, making them ideal for everyone on the water.
4. Safety Assurance: A dependable valve ensures that inflatable equipment performs as expected when it matters most.
While it may seem like a small detail, the valve system in your inflatable gear can make a big difference in your overall water sports experience. The Halkey Roberts valve delivers reliability, efficiency, and peace of mind, qualities every water sports enthusiast can appreciate.
Next time you’re out on the water, take a moment to appreciate the engineering behind your gear. It’s components like these that keep your adventures smooth, safe, and enjoyable.
